FAQs
What is ISO 9000, ISO 9001?
ISO 9000 is a series of Quality Management
Standards established by International Organization for Standardization (ISO),
headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. There are 105 member countries
participating in the development of these standards. India, too has a
representative on this body. Registration to ISO 9001/2 provides confidence to
the customer about the suppliers ability to deliver quality products/services
consistently.
I am a SSI unit with 04 employees operating
in a gala, can I think of ISO 9001?
Oh, Why not ! There are numerous SSI units
already certified and are now deriving tangible benefits. They are evolving as
strong and respectable partners of Large Scale Units. In fact, ISO 9000 can be
said to be a life-saver kit for SSI organizations, in light of today’s
competition.
Can a trader or a Service provider get ISO
9001 certification?
Definitely. Also, as these are the
organizations who come in direct contact with the end users of any
product/service, good management systems become more essential. Any Trader/Service provider, engaged in
delivering products/services to the customers can go for ISO. E.g. Computer
hardware/software suppliers, Automobile Servicing Centres, Computer Servicing
Centres, Banks, Hospitals, gas agencies, Hotels, Petrol Pumps, Printers,
Educational Institutes, Jewelry …..the list is endless.
In fact we can quote many organizations in each
of the above type, that has already been certified to ISO !
But the requirements / process might be too
complicated / stringent?
No, not at all. In fact the objective of the
systems is to introduce a professional approach towards running any business. In
fact it identifies problem areas and reduces non-value adding activities.
Then it might cost too high?
It is not a cost, It is an Investment.
Moreover, SSI units, get reimbursement of expenses incurred for getting ISO
certificate from various Govt. Bodies. e. g. Govt. of India, reimburses upto
max. Rs. 75000. Gujarat Govt. reimburses upto maximum Rs. 100000 for industries
in Gujarat state (this is in addition to Rs. 75000 of Central Govt.). SBI,
offers Rs. 25000 as gift, as incentive. Also there are lot of import benefits,
for ISO certified companies. Now, isn’t that
interesting ?!! (Valid
for Approved / Registered Consultants only)
What is the difference between ISI & ISO9000?
ISI is a product certification by Bureau of
Indian Standards (BIS). You can get ISI mark, by submitting your best “samples”.
ISO9000 is a Systems standard i. e. the process is evaluated, thereby assuring
the customers that, consistent quality products/services will be delivered, at
all times.
